Bouncing: Stereo vs. Mono & MP3 fun
Hello. I used Pro Tools to bounce audio to a stereo file, then used SoundJam to convert it into a mono mp3. The original stereo bounce was 117 megs, and when converted to a 48kbps file, it came out to 4.6 megs. Pretty cool.
Then repeated the process, except this time I bounced to a mono file instead of a stereo file, which ended up at 58 megs. I then converted that file into a mono 48kbps .mp3 file, and it still came out to 4.6 megs I thought it would end up at 2.3 megs, since the original mono AIFF file was 58 megs..which follows the same logic that brought my stereo AIFF file at 117 megs to a 4.6 meg mp3. Anyone have any ideas why my 58 meg conversion still ended up at 4.6 megs? Gremz |

Re: Bouncing: Stereo vs. Mono & MP3 fun
The final output was a mono .mp3 in both cases.
The mono file doesn't care what the input was, just that it is x minutes long at 48k sample rate with x quality compression/encoding.
