Re: "Speed" of rotary knobs

Just finished a session for a few days on an Avid/Euphonix S5, and the rotary encoder knob profile is wonderful - completely intuitive - and doesn't include any acceleration. This really leaves the user with an impression of solid tactility. |

Re: "Speed" of rotary knobs
There has been some uncertainty as to the extent of Ideascale monitoring on Avids part - but it can certainly not hurt to try. So I added this one a few weeks ago:
http://protools.ideascale.com/a/dtd/...ng/211749-3779 And it seems I am not the only one who finds this extremly annoying. |

Re: "Speed" of rotary knobs
I would like to have the opportunity to select linear control just for pan, and the velocity we have right now for fine-tuning of other parameters, like EQ or other plugins.

Re: "Speed" of rotary knobs
Is there anyone from Avid here that can comment on this topic?
The S3 is a brilliant system, but the accelerating control curve of these pots really brings down the user experience. |

It seems like it shouldn't be that hard to implement this (Speaking as someone who knows almost nothing about coding!) and the enhancement of the user experience could be very significant. |

The acceleration of the encoders is so unpredicable that I am finding myself wanting to avoid touching them now which is quite disappointing for a control surface. |
