Audio Processing is Conflicting w/ Other CPU Tasks
When I record, often the recording or playback of a recording is haulted and there is an error message that pops up saying that I need to reduce my HW buffer size in my playback engine...either this or a similar message that tells me I need to increase my HW buffer size. SO, it goes back and forth and it is never satisfied.
the exact message goes like this: audio processing is conflicting with other CPU tasks. If this occurs often, reducing the "HW Buffer Size in the playback engine Dialog may help prevent the problem (-9129) and shortly after I adjust that, this message pops up: The operating system held off interupts for too long. If thisd occurs often, try increasing the "H/W buffer Size in the playback Engine Dialogue (-9094) How do I get it to permenantly stop the interfering of recording/and displaying the HW Buffer size business? So far I haven't been able to make an actual, full length recording, although I can record bits and pieces. Also, If you can dumb it down a bit for me, I am not too hip on the PT/Recording lingo yet. Thankyou in advance... System specs::: Ibook G4 Processor Speed 1 GHZ Hard Drive space - 40 GB 512 MB of RAM Panther OS X 10.3.9 Version of protools - 6.9 Mbox (original)

Re: Audio Processing is Conflicting w/ Other CPU Tasks
The problem is that you have OSX 10.3.9. For Pro Tools 6.9 you can't go any higer than OSX 10.3.8. Also you need to make sure that if you use this configuration that you do not update Quicktime past 6.5.2 as this is the major killer. If your restore disks are based on OSX 10.3.9 then your gonna have to update to OSX 10.4 then shift to Pro Tools 6.9.2.
Regards

Re: Audio Processing is Conflicting w/ Other CPU Tasks
Hi and thankyou for your reply. Now I know this isn't an Apple website and all...but would you happen to know how I might go about downgrading my OS to 10.3.8? Regarding Quicktime which on my computer is 7. 2 or something; do you know how I would go about removing this program entirely from my Mac so I can go ahead and download a compatible version of QT? Thanks again, Marc.
