Lost Disk
I've been out of the music scene for a number of years. So long in fact that I no longer use the same email accounts I once did, and cannot remember my avid login info.
Here's the real problem. I have an older version of Pro Tools (v7.0), and an old computer that it belongs to. I would like to install the software on a new computer but cannot find the disk. I have the hardware, the registration IDs, the support disks; even the Pro Tools Mac disk, but no Windows disk. Is there a way to get a new one without buying the whole package (Mbox2, etc.) all over? Again, I cannot log onto anything on the digidesign/Avid website; I no longer remember my old passwords. Thanks in advance for your help. Sorry if a question like this has already been posted. I looked but couldn't find one. |

Re: Lost Disk
Well Avid/Digidesign used to sell replacement installers.
I have 7.4 windows but not 7.0. Best bet is to hang out here, and some kind soul might help you. And if it you will have to contact Avid and see if they can.

Re: Lost Disk
I could hook you up with 8.0.3 and 8.0.5 updater if you're planning on running it on Win 7. Shoot me a PM.

Re: Lost Disk
A new computer? What is it and what operating system? Anything past Windows XP or a similar ancient Mac OS and you won't get PT LE 7 to work.
You might want to try contacting Avid support. Registration and licensing help is free.

Re: Lost Disk
Indeed^^^ PT7 is not going to load on any current OS. Sadly, your best bet is likely going to be to start from scratch with a new computer, a new interface and a new DAW(be it Pro Tools 12 or some other). One good thing about Pro Tools now; it does NOT require Avid/Digidesign hardware(opening you up to dozens of interface options). There are also several other choices for software, from Reaper, CuBase, Presonus Studio One(3), Harrison MixBus and Sonar(from nearly free to several hundred bucks). If you go Apple, you can also look at Logic. I keep an old G4 with an Mbox and LE7.4 just so I can open and convert old sessions and then move them onto my modern PT12.8 rig
