Default White noise burst every 12 seconds.

Everything was fine an dandy on my MacBook Pro. I got a new iMac quad yesterday. Did migration assistant. When I opened a recent session, I got a white noise burst every 12 seconds.

So I updated to OSX 10.6.6, to PT 9.0.1 and also the latest m-audio ProFire driver.

Still got the noise bursts. No change.

Then I trashed my prefs.

Same thing. No change.

Is this a common thing or a new one?

I have seen issues with using migration assistant before. If you create a new admin user and open the session from there does it help?

Do you have any IK-Multimedia serial number-based plugins? Are they authorized?

I can give that a shot. If that does work, what does that tell me?

Would just uninstalling and re-installing PT9 be helpful as well? Because I was thinking that was my next step.

I do have a few IK plugins. They were authorized and working fine on my MacBook Pro.

The issue we saw with migration assistant is that it can pull some settings over from a previous installation that don't play well with the new one. These may not necessarily be protools related which is why trashing protools prefs doesn't help.
These days if doing a new OS install I just start from scratch with a fresh drive and manually copy anything required from the old one.

That would be the ideal thing, but I had to do it quick and dirty. Sold the MBP so I gotta get it shipped out. I do have a clone of the MBP drive though, so if I need to do everything more manually later, I will.

Maybe i'll try to reinstall PT9. What's the best way to properly and thoroughly uninstall PT9 from my Mac?

Well there's an uninstaller in the installer package (or on the DVD if that's what you used). Other than that I'm not sure to be honest.

Ok. I'll wait till my full install is finished downloading (before this i had upgraded from M-Powered). Then I'll see if I can uninstall first.

P.I.T.A. haha. I dreaded leaving my MBP because it was rock solid, but I needed more power than the Core2Duo could give me. Hopefully I can get this ironed out eventually and be back to a rock solid system.

It sounds to me like one of your plugs is in demo mode. You may want to check them all.
