What is the Hybrid Engine?

As I understand it Carbon is a hardware interface ,,,,, Hybrid Engine is software that was brought out with the Carbon unit.

I think the other question is , will whether or not HD drivers will still be required with HDX hardware being able to run the Hybrid Engine, because with the Carbon they arn't ???

The new Avid “Carbon” interface, brought us Avid’s new “Hybrid Engine”.
DSP chips Like HDX (but fewer) can be utilized in new ways.

The Current-HDX Engine in the future will get this Hybrid Engine as an option.
This potentially opens up voice counts, twin-driver, core audio / HD audio abilities.
