Default No 96k SMUX on 192 digital ADAT ports?

Hi ,

i've been somewhat unable to find any info on wether my 192 digital I/O should be able to handle 96khz SMUX signals on it's ADAT inputs or not. It would appear that it does *not* handle SMUX.....is this correct?

Cheers,
d

SMUX was developed way after the 192 came out, so I would be very surprised if it worked. AES and SPDIF are the only ways to get above 48 into the 192.

Yes, I'm pretty sure that's right. None of the digi interfaces support SMUX. Ironically, the cheap n' cheesy M-audio profire lightbridge does support it.

*sigh* that's what i didn't want to hear......;-)

really a pity since many non-PT interface options (like the prism orpheus, RME fireware etc, apogee symphony/ensemble) are lacking on the AES side of I/O.

anyway, thanks guys!

I hear you there, I don't understand why more manufacturers don't make stuff with AES connections. The TC electronic Digital Konnekt 32 will mix and match up to 16 simultaneous channels of ADAT, SPDIF and AES over a firewire connection, I can't remember if you lose I/O's on the AES if you go up in sample rate or not.
