SCSI anyone?
Hi. I'm running PT8.0.3cs1 on an 8-core MacPro. I currently have it set up with a 500G SATA drive for the audio. Unfortunately, right before I got my HD system I bought about 5 new high capacity (for SCSI anyway) SCSI drives to use with my MIX system and G4. This doesn't count the approx. 8 other SCSI drives that I already had. I'm thinking of getting an ATTO ExpressPCI UL5D SCSI PCIe card and using these drives. Is anyone running SCSI drives with their MacPro and PT8. They never missed a lick on my older system so I was hoping they would be good with the HD rig.
Thanks, Jeff

Re: SCSI anyone?
We've been running 4 systems on G5s with Ultra-SCSI since early 2004. NEVER had issues with them. Of course now we have to upgrade to MacPros and change all of the cards... very expensive to do, but if we've got room for an ATTO card in there, I'd stick with SCSI. You can't beat it's built-in housekeeping!!

Re: SCSI anyone?
I'm also still using UW-SCSI on my G4's and G5's with several ATTO ExpressPCI UL3D SCSI PCI cards and it is rock solid for many years now. If I should upgrade to a Mac Pro I would also try to go for an ATTO ExpressPCI UL5D SCSI PCIe card so I can continue using all my 10.000 RPM UW SCSI HD's.
I have no real life experience with a ATTO ExpressPCI UL5D SCSI PCIe card in a Mac Pro, but it is listed as compatible with PT, as you can read here

Re: SCSI anyone?
Apparently only the standard UL5D card is supported by PT...the UL5D-LP (low profile model) throws a stream of errors.

Re: SCSI anyone?
Thanks. I think I might just try it. My UL3D has been fine for about 8-9 years now. Hopefully, the UL5D will perform as well.
