Default Pro Tools Video File Sluggish

Hi.

My Pro Tools session is acting very sluggish, and I suspect that it's due to the video file format. I've tried a couple of different formats, and I keep getting the same sluggish behavior. Question is, what is a convenient format that I can convert to?

PT HD v10.3.10
Mac OS X v10.9.5
(24 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 Memory; 2 x 2.66 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon Processor)

Video #1 specs - 34.4 MB size. H.264, 960 x 540, AAC stereo, 24 FPS. MP4 file format.
Video #2 specs - 1.31 GB size. x264Encoder, 1280 x 720, stereo, 23.98 FPS. .MOV file format.

I am working with both of those video files above, and both are very sluggish.

I have QuickTime 7 Pro and QuickTime 10.3 handy. Using either of these, is there a file format that I can convert to that will remove the sluggish behavior from Pro Tools?

Thanks!

Default Re: Pro Tools Video File Sluggish

You could convert H264 to MJpg (or DNxHD36 or ProRes Proxy/LT) with QT Pro.
Basically, stay away from interframe codecs (H264) and use intraframe codecs.
