MBox 2 or 3rd Gen

A MBox that came with Pro Tools Express.
I ask when I purchased it if it was a MBox2, the reply was in the positive.
After reading a post that stated that Pro Tools express came with a 3rd Gen. My searching so far has failed to find a picture of a 3rd Gen and I am unable to compare the two together. I have come to the conclusion that they are the same box, well to look at they are.

Am I right to come to this conclusion?
Is there a discernible difference between them, if my conclusion is correct?
Again if I am right, how do you tell what box you have?
If I am wrong and they are not the same box to look at, how do I tell what I have?

I'm so new to pro tools I am yet to connect my ?Box, nor have my system in my signature.

Protools Express only ships with the Mbox 3. It wasn't even invented when the Mbox 2 was selling.

Also, the units look different, with the Mbox 2 being a blue color, and the Mbox 3 being a dark grayish brown color.

Finally, they sound different, with the Mbox 3 sound quality blowing the Mbox 2 sound quality to smithereens.
