Default Open PT Standard with PT Ultimate iLok license?

My understanding is that PT Standard and PT Ultimate is using the same Pro Tools application. The app in the Applications folder is named "Pro Tools" and the Application Menu just shows "Pro Tools" regardless of which version is loaded.

Which version will launch depends only on the license that is available on the iLok key or iLok Cloud account.

So if I have a PT Ultimate license on my iLok, is there a way to launch into the PT Standard version?

You could remove the HD versions off the ilok. That worked for us before but i dont know why we would want to do that today. If you open a non HD version in the HD version it just remove the HD features and works as a non HD session.

I need that to switch back and forth to compare feature sets (in a teaching environment)

If the licenses are separate, just deactivate ultimate license and leave standard license as is.

If your licenses are bundled together, there is no way to do what you want as ultimate features are always activated when PT sees ultimate license. Only option being that you buy standard license and swap licenses on your iLok. Maybe have standard license on cloud and ultimate license on a key, then just unplug ultimate license when you only need standard.
