Default 003 not staying connected to PT 11.0.3

I am running (Or Trying) Pro Tool 11.0.3 with my 003 and it is loosing connection with the 003 during each record session.

Spent close to 5 hours with tec support and still no fix.

Fresh install of 10.9
Fresh install of PT 11.0.3
tried all the drivers old and new

Tried multiple firewire cables

different buffer sizes

different scratch disk

ect.

I have read multiple threads of guys running firewire into thunderbolt with no problems, but I am starting to think that it will not work? ANy help or suggestions would be welcomed.

My system

Pro Tools 11.0.3
003 Rack

IMAC
OSX 10.9
3.5 GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB RAM 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB

Do you have the 3TB Fusion Drive? If so, I do too and have the same issue.

I cannot contact Avid about it cause apparently my ASC code has expired... Could you tell them it's the fusion drive and that they need a firmware update so all hardware will work with fusion drives? There are reports that other users who have SSD say their hardware still works fine running Mavericks and everything...

Interesting, I do Have the 3 TB Fusion drive.

I downgraded to 10.8 today and Have PT 10 running smoothly on it. Was debating trying 11 on 10.8 but may not now if the 3TB Fusion is the main issue.

Is it just the 3TB fusion or all Fusion drives?

Hey there. Thankfully, my ASC is still valid. I'm having the same issue with a new iMac and my 003. I should've been more diligent in checking what Macs were certified to work at this time.

Anyway, I just got off the phone with a guy in tech support and he said, as I'm sure you know by now, that the DUC is lighting up with this issue.

He said the customer service phone lines are now lighting up with the same issue and that the common thread seems to be the fusion drive. Mine is a 1TB, BTW.

He said that customer support is "sitting on" the development team to get this fixed. For now, we wait.

I know there's plenty of kvetching that's aimed at Avid around these kinds of issues. However, if I had done what I preach to so many others about making sure everything is compatible and certified before making a purchase, I most likely wouldn't have run into this issue. Fortunately, I have another Mac I can do my PT work on and will wait until Avid works this out.

My .02.

Craig

Craig, thank you for the update. This is the first I have heard that Avid is working on this issue.

I filed a case and sent direct feedback to Apple about the issue at:

http://www.apple.com/feedback/imac.html

Please do the same so we can help speed up the process. I will update you if they get back to me on anything...

Also, here's more info from more users on temporary fixes:

Awesome. We are all in the same boat...

I'm going to back up my files and try partitioning the SSD and the HD and see if that works until Apple fixes this in a firmware update (hopefully)...

Thanks for the links, Aswink. Will do.

FYI, one of the fixes Avid CS asked me to try was partitioning my fusion drive and installing Mavericks and PT 11.0.3 on the new partition. That actually worked. They told me if it worked, then I should restore the full drive and do a clean install of Mavericks and PT without migrating from my older iMac. Their thought was that the migration was the issue.

Of course, when I restored the full drive and did the clean install of Mavericks and ProTools, the issues with the 003 resurfaced. This is one of the things that helped confirm that it's likely the use of the fusion drive.

Am I correct that a new partition somehow bypasses the part or functionality of the fusion drive that is causing the problem?

So may I ask what you're doing exactly? Are you just running a clean install of Mavericks and PT on the new partition and then switching to the other partition for the rest of your operations (e-mail, web browsing, etc.)?

Thanks very much!

No kidding? I don't have 10.9.2 Beta, but I didn't see anything online about them fixing the fusion drive/audio interface problem with 10.9.2. Do they tend to incorporate fixes they don't talk about?
