Default Recording midi in reason or protools??

Now for my next problem

I open an instrument track and insert Reason as a plug in. If I then press record and play on the reason transport bar it records what i play exactly and playback works ok, i can then route this to an audio track no probs.

Now if i insert Reason as a plug in and press record and play on the protools transport bar it doesnt record exactly what i play, on playback notes drop out or are held for longer, it sounds a complete muddle. I would like to be able to edit some of the MIDI data so want to record in protools rather than reason ideally.

P.S I have some guitar tracks laid down, a click track and set the tempo.

HELP, HELP, HELP PLEASE

Cheers

don't know if this helps and can't really think of anything at the moment other than, is the track in reason also midi armed? in other words, make sure you do not have the track in reason midi enabled when you have the instrument track in protoools armed. this can create wierd midi behavior but not sure if related to your problem. i'm sure others will chime in . good luck

Nope still makes no difference, whenever i record any Reason MIDI the notes are way off what I have played, very weird. Any further help would be greatly appreciated, I could edit it all manually but that would take ages.

P.s. My setup is a laptop (good spec) Novation Xstation49 connected to laptop via USB and MBox2 Pro

Have you tried the MIDI I/O on the Mbox 2 Pro?

This may seem kinda basic, but does switching the buffer settings help? I would also agree with a previous poster and suggest using the midi i/o rather than usb (I know.. it's way more convenient w/usb, but I own an axiom25 and it DOES work with usb, but it is ROCK solid via MIDI)... good luck!

Ok ive tried everything, still not working. Unfortunately I havent got any midi cables so cant try that option yet.

This seems to be a general midi problem, I loaded up a sampletank plugin then recorded via the protools transport and again the same happened, missed notes, timing off, it does not sound like what i have played, it seems to be worse when playing quick notes, if i hold a key down its not quite as bad. Like I said earlier if I plugin reason and play the same tune and record it using the reason transport it records exactly what I play, I dont see how a midi cable will help??

It almost seems like protools is too sensitive, I am not using any quantise in either reason or protools, ive tried ditching my preferences etc.

Any other hel would be much obliged, pulling my hair out now!!

Hooray!! After about 2 long weeks of emailing Digidesign, installing updates as they advised and then being told that I shouldnt have installed them (doh!), uninstalling and reinstalling software I have finally solved the issue.

All I had to do was run the Windows XP core duo hotfix! Helps if you read the troubleshooting tips i guess, so simple!

Im now bald after this expeience, anyone know any good hair restorer, oh sorry wrong forum
