Is the .002 harness issue resolved with the .003

I have an older .002R and a Quad G5 + 5500mb ram and the harness seems to keep haunting me, acording to my latest $75 conversation with Digi. They say that when the session stops with the "cannot reaquire" or "proTools has lost communication with Hardware" and I turn off the .002 and back on and the everything is fine for 10 min, that IF I can turn the red mute button on and off that I need to Clean the Harness again that they sent me last year.

Now I am ready to throw the .002R in the can and put out for an .003R. I have the Command 8 and love it!

Can anyone tell me (Hello DIGI??????) IF this issue has been changed and fixed with the >003 ??????

I am ready to SOLDER my power harness to the pins and loose the plastic "molex" connectors.

If digi says to clean this often, then this MUST be a conductivity issue, and soldering would eliminate the terrible connections the power harness must have.

OK, I am Sure digi would NEVER recommend this solution, but what do you people think???

Despite the similarities the 003 and 002 are most certainly different beasts under the hood.

If you unit is out of warrantee you may want to solder the connector on. I would strongly recommend having this done by a experienced electronics service center though. Todays modern surface mount technology is pretty unforgiving. I'm sure most people will disagree with me about soldering it on though

Since it does seem to be entirely a connectivity issue though I guarantee you that about the third time I would have to open my 002 up the soldering iron would come out soldering it SHOULD completely eliminate the problem though.

Soldering it would undoubtedly void your warrantee, It might be huge turn off if you go to sell it. I would think hard about it.

I hope they're different inside - and I'd hope that Digidesign didn't choose connectors prone to galvanic corrosion again.

This issue is supposed to be resolved in Rev G 002 racks. I have one so i'll post if i get any probs, it's quite new so im not expecting this too happen any time soon.

OK. it was either go through endless hours and days of sending the .002r to digi, or soldering the wires (rendering any future sale improbable) SO;

I just went and got the .003R and WOW!!! what a gas -> my Apogee 200 as the Clocking source, and I had a 7 hour writing session yesterday, and NO hiccup's of any kind - that baby was just rock solid, And it took me 20 min to install !!!!!!! huh ???

I would HIGHLY recomend getting the .003 to anyone with any kind of .002 problems.
