Need complete help & advice

I am attempting to learn more about Pro Tools and what's needed for a specific task. I have never used the program however I've been tasked by my employer to do some research.

While we are regular content creators with video, motion graphics, 3d and simple 5.1 DD mixing, we would like to get into Dolby Atmos.

I have read Pro Tools is one of the most well respected tools and supposedly there is a plugin that allows this?

I would like to determine if this is true and what tools (software and hardware would be necessary).

The extent of mixing would be rather minor (not full length movies etc.) but smaller, under 5 minutes of content etc.

I believe we have an older licensed version of Pro Tools 10 HD so I'm not sure if it would be compatible or if version 12 is required, but any assistance and guidance would be greatly appreciated.

If you are interested in Dolby Atmos, I suggest you talk to Dolby directly. For use with Pro Tools you will need PT 12 HD and HDX. You will need to make sure your mixing space is up to spec acoustically as well. Here's the link for Dolby.
