Avid EDLs from ProTools?
I work at a large post facility where the reporting of music usage has become a big issue. One of our bigger clients uses a system called Sound Mouse to track the music cues used in our edits. Problem is, the system requires, specifically, an "Avid EDL" to enter the metadata associated with each music cue.
Since our mixers are the last ones to have the music, our timelines are considered final, so our department is responsible for generating the music cuesheet. At this writing, the Export Session as Text command doesn't give this as an option in ProTools 8.04. Earlier workflows required us to export as Excel Text, which worked fine until Sound Mouse came on the scene. Currently, we are splitting music tracks to mono, deleting all fades and exporting as AAF with no media, which our picture editors import back into their projects to create the Avid EDL. In practice, this adds time and effort to our already short deadlines. Dear Avid, what would it take to include the option to export as Avid EDL in the Export Session as Text menu of ProTools? Thanks! Andy Peterson |
