Default Annoying noise at the end of recordings

Hi.

In PT902 When recording, anytime I stop there is a loud burst of noise at the end of the recorded region that I have to erase manually. This happens only in this situations:

When recording through my MOTU 828mkII using 64 or 128 samples buffer. When the buffer is higher than that the noise is not created.

Recording through my Fast Track Ultra 8R at 128 samples buffer is ok, no noise at all.

So the noise is only with the MOTU 828mkII only when using 64 or 128 samples buffer size.

Is this odd behaviour be MOTU related or ProTools related?

I have the lastest drivers for my MOTU.

It could be reverb trails when the master fader pops back to -0 after a fade. Either adjust the master volume line(after the end of the song) so it stays down, or adjust your Bounce to Disk region to end before the volume pops back up. Or, just do as I do and bounce without worry about the head and tail, import the bounced file into any of several editing programs(even including Pro Tools) and trim the head and tail and export as a finished file. I usually do my fadeouts there as well. I use WaveLab which is much better than PT for this kind of work. They make an "Essentials" version of Wavelab 7 that runs on PC or Mac and its about $99. Also great for burning audio CD's(waaaaaay better than iTunes).

No, of course is not a reverb tail. When I said "loud noise" I meant loud pink noise. I'm not even using any reverb or plugin in any insert when the noise appears, allways at the end of the recorded region.

I'm going to update to 9.0.3 and see if the problems goes away... but I doubt it.

Well not quite. It's a description of the problem not the answer to what is causing this. It could be PT or my audio interface.

Intaller 9.0.3 update and the problem continues.

at 64 buffer I get noise at the end
at 128 the same
at 256 the problem goes away

I'm having a problem very similar, using PT 9.0.3 and a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40.

Every take I record has a very annoying pink noise pop that is just about FS. I have to go in and trim every region every time.

I haven't tried other buffers, this was all @ 64.

EDIT: Pops happen at 64 and 128 - they go away @ 256.

I was having this bug with the Dolby Media Meter plug-in in the path (was doing a bounce to track). Do you have plug-ins in your recording path?

To me, it sounds like a part of the buffer. Can't explain it tough..

It didn't seem to matter if plugins were in the chain or not. I consistently got very short very loud bursts of pink noise whether I recorded from an input or a bus, plugins or not. But it didn't happen at 256 or higher. The other night when I made that post, I trashed prefs, cleaned up some crap I dont use, rebooted - still had the problem. Oh well for now.

2 days later - the problem seems to have disappeared @ 128. Cant explain why as the only thing that has changed since then was I added a new hard drive for raw backup storage - PT doesn't use it at all.
