Default Bit Rate Setting Problems 12.5 Fast Rack Ultra

My (re)installation of PT 12 will not open most of my files. It errors with "Device does not support 48k" or "...44.1". My interface is Avid / M-audio Fast Track Ultra 8R. The Fastrack gets stuck at one bit rate and will not change even manually from the drop down menu.

Otherwise, the interface works great with other programs. This is a new phenomena on my installation. It started exactly the same in vs. 12.0 - so it was suggetsed I upgrade. The upgrade looks great! It will open the last track I created @ 44.1 (but no others) and works and sounds wonderful on that file.

Confused :)

Assuming you're using Windows, make sure your onboard soundcard is the default for Windows sounds/audio and use the Fast Track only for Pro Tools.

This is SO counter-intuitive for me considering AVID made a HUGE deal about disabling any onboard soundcard when I first installed 7.3. PERFECT! your solution saved my bacon - thank you SO much! Works great, now.

This optimization is undocumented by Avid. Tat said, the disabling of your onboard soundcard ended at PT 10 or maybe PT11. We're a long way from 7.3
