Default Macbook Pro 2gb of ram with RME Totalmix?

I am having issues trying to get my system to work
Pro Tools 9.0.6
Macbook Pro OSX 10.6.8 w 2.4 Ghz Intel Core Duo 2gb or Ram
RME Totalmix 2.75

Everything is up to date, but when I open pro tools, it see's audio signal when i record enable but the meter starts freezing and no actual audio signal passes. RME Totalmix also does not show up when I click on it. And if it does, it freezes and disappears. If I record, it just crashes and gives me a cpu overload message. (-6101). Totalmix works fine when pro tools is not open.

Is this merely because of being low on ram? I plan on upgrading soon, but I need a machine working by tomorrow night, I might have to bring in my home computer if all else fails.

2Gb is pretty small especially for a dual core. Thats like the minimum with the minimum. And running snow leopard and pro tools 9 will make that struggle.

Even when i had my powerPC G5 and my Mac pro Dual i had 8GB ram. Also how many processors are you allocating for pro tools? set it to one, so the system has one core.
