Default PostProduction help please...

Hey all, with the saturation of useless information out there, I cannot for the life of me find useful info on what I need for a decent running Post session.

-My question:
Do I need a video peripheral to run video in a session such as a Mojo or V10 Video Hardware engine? I haven't had to work with Post since audio school 10 years ago and things have grayed out a bit for me. The video file in my session is lagging to no avail. I found some info on a "blackmagic card" being a go-to piece of gear, but I am lost as of now. Any help is good help.

You don't necessarily 'have to' use a video peripheral, video will place in a track and output in a window just fine (usually, depending on codec & size etc). Personally, I use a BM DeckLink Mini Monitor 4k and this works very well with Pro Tools, other DAWs and NLEs. 1 x PCIe, outputs HDMI & SDI, and not all that pricey. It does work especially well that a dedicated video card & its control panel takes over the horsepower, colour management etc - vs. having the computer & consumer GPU do that. Depends on your needs.
