What I am NOT going to do right now is fork over almost $250 to get another license from reFX. If I have that much extra cash, maybe I'll just get Avenger. I may just toss Nexus altogether. Yeah it sounds great, but so do a dozen other similar VIs.
Avenger is pretty good but please do get the demo and try it before you buy it. Had it for a while and though it's given me some neat sounds I'm highly disappointed in a few things. First is their expansion packs - expensive which look to be $70 unless they have a 20% off sale. The other is there licensing system. While they don't use a dongle it's a warren of steps to go through to get everything licensed on one's system. And you have to go through the same multi-step dance with each expansion pack you buy.

Another reason to demo it is the gui. Some people are having issues with it between getting it to fit on one's screen and be legible without being blurry in spots. Yes you can resize the gui but to see the actual change you have to close the gui and reopen it. I'd suggest taking a stroll through this thread over on KVR. You need not read all 480+ pages but if you go back a few pages from the end you'll see some posters talking about the gui. And Mario (msvs on KVR) who's the public face of VPS says they're not going to change the gui. It's going to stay all on one page. https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewt...127&start=7350

Oh yeah - one more thing - they don't have an updated English language manual available.

I demoed it when it first came out and I really liked it. I had no issues using it or seeing it. Not saying I'm getting it...just thinking about it. Thanks for the info.

"The Mystery of the Purple Dongle"?

Was Danny DeVito in that one?

Hey Brother,

Sorry I haven’t posted in this thread until now. I have been having some private issues and I will answer you in the reply to your kind PM

As you may know I have a long history with reFX and as we have purchased all their expansions and VI I will send a email regarding this issue you have and report back as soon as I have talked to them. This sounds extremely stupid and a product (software or not) shouldn’t have to be re-purchased due to lost or broken additional gear needed so hang tight and I will talk to them and get an answer.

I can’t promise the outcome unfortunately but they know I moderate here and they also know who we work with aswell as our non profit youth initiative so I hope that will count for something
