better mic pre... my 002 rack or..

I have an allen & heath gl2200 32 channel board which I bought last year. I do all my mixdown on it before anything runs to my protools setup. (I had a 001, just upgraded to an 002 rack yesterday). Since I just bought the 002 rack with the 96k res and all, which do you think would be better to record vocals into? Direct into the 002, or use the mic pre's on the analog board, then down into the 002? Also, which are the best a/d converters in the 002? 1-4? 5-8? and same with the outputs... which ones have the best d/a converters. Thanks everyone in advance who could guide me in the right direction!

I have a similar setup and like you previously owned a 001. There is no doubt that the Allen and Heath had nicer sounding pres than the 001. I'm unable to use any of my condensor mics with my new 002R because the phantom power doesn't work. Digi said they would fix it if I picked up the return shipping. I would be very interested in hearing what you find in comparision for the Allan and Heath and the 002 preamps! Rather than paying extra money for the repair I'm thinking of leaving the unit broken.
