Keith,

Wicked Mama is referring to the Power harness issue. We have setup a repair kit for this specific issue. So we can send out instructions and parts for replacing the power harness. However, we do not have such a kit for repairing the phantom power. You will need to contact tech support at 650-731-6100 and arrange to have the 002 repaired or swapped out for a replacement.

Hope this helps.

Mike

I know - my issue is on the fairness of the shipping charges. This unit was faulty on receipt and I'm hoping that Digi would stand behind the product and pay for the shipping. But, if you are thinking about giving me the necessary info for a phantom power repair - I'm with you!

I'm wondering if some of you could help. I've yet to hear the preamps on the 002 rack and I'm wondering what your opinions are. Is it worthwhile getting the phantom power repaired so that I can use the preamps with the 002l, or am I better of not bothering?
Thanks,
Keith

The 002 preamps sound fine to me. You don't have a dynamic mic around?

Anyway, if you would have been able (as you suggested above) to fix it using a schematic, you're competent to open it up and check for something obvious. Maybe a loose connector?
Conversely, if you can't trace the phantom power circuit without a schematic, I don't think you'd be able to fix it WITH a schematic.

Keith, I'm jealous. One day maybe I'll get a home on the range.

BTW - get the phantom fixed. Call tech support re the charges. They have been very good to most people - even we Canucks. And if you get nowhere, bite the bullet - the rack is too good not to be fully functional. Good lick.

Thanks for the response CB! Actually I did contact tech support. I was on the line for 40 minutes to LA at my expense. Then I was told that I would have to pay the return shipping to get my unit repaired. This is a brand new unit that never worked. US users don't pay freight, Canadians do. So I'm looking for an alternative way to get this unit working the way it is supposed to.

Good points tele. And no I am not going to fix it myself. I do have a someone close that would tackle it. But after it is opened and if he is unable to repair it I don't want to be left holding the bag - Digi refusing to warranty something that has been opened.

As far as using the preamps with my one dynamic mic, yes I tried that but I would like to be able to use it with my condensors.
Thanks,
Keith

These examples of DOA should, in my opinion, be handled with the seller - not through warranty and Digi. That's an advantage to buying from a brick-and-mortar retailer, bring it back for immediate exchange or refund.
Yes. Unless you live 200 miles from a city, like he does.

Well, he should take it back to the shop, next time he goes into town to pick up the mail.
