1622 Interface..anyone using one
I have loads of synths and want to get rid of my desk and totally go the digi route. I'm wondering is this wise and is the 1622 a)working ok
b)does it work if you use a sequencer as a front end Lastly whats the sound quality like if working this way compared to using Mackie 02R etc.Is the sound too thin. |

Re: 1622 Interface..anyone using one
I just replaced my Mackie 12 channel with the 1622 and it's great. I have more control over the volumes from within Pro Tools and I think it's quieter than using an extra board.
I use the Pro tools mixer exclusively now PS You need to use 5.0 for the 1622 and it takes up a full mix card

Re: 1622 Interface..anyone using one
I agree w/ produceher. I just purchased a 1622 for all of my sampler/synths etc...
I love it! My PT studio is completely without a traditional console. I use strictly mic pre's to go straight to my 888/24's then the Pro Control is my mixing surface and moitoring control. Since the synths are line level it is a very streamlined method of getting those instruments directly into PT, not to mention cost effective. Personally, I have been very satisfied w/ the sound quality and the efficiency. Installation is a breeze. Again, as produceher said, you need 5.0 and it requires a mix card. Good luck dsong |

Re: 1622 Interface..anyone using one
Hi Guys,
I just picked up two 1622's, but have not had time to hook them up. Are you saying that it needs a full Mix card because of it haveing 16 inputs, or does the interface somehow take up all of the cards available DSP? I hope this is not the case. If it is, it would have been nice for Digi to mention that somewhere in its product notes. Thanks for any info. Kenny Meriedeth Melted Media Music |

A. It does not hog the DSP just the inputs. |

Re: 1622 Interface..anyone using one
Hi Dsong,
Thanks for the info. Had me woried for a minute that for some bizarre sort of reason, the 1622's were going to eat up all the DSP on the two extra mix farm cards I bought to hook them up to. That would make for some expensive interfaces wouldn't it? Thanks for putting my mind at ease. Kenny Meriedeth Melted Media Music |

Re: 1622 Interface..anyone using one
Dsong is correct, since the 1622 is a 16 channel I/O it requires a Mix (or D24 card) due to inputs only. It does not eat up all the DSP on the card it is connected to. Jon Connolly Digidesign Product Specialist |
