I guess I'll be going for that "legacy/vintage" 001 sound for a little while longer. I'll just keep using my external A/D/A and mic pre's.

Wow, once every 3 months I find time to visit my old stomping ground here, and I missed putting my own $.02 into the active part of this truly excellent thread. I've just spent about an hour reading through 90% of these posts. Park, Kickin', Duardo, and a few others: good to see you guys keeping everyone on the straight and narrow. 96k can certainly sound better on some sources (mainly acoustic sources), but it's not usually because it's capturing more samples. The actual factors have all been hashed out: very good reading.

One thing was touched on (back on page 1) about latency and the 002, but never really answered. If I'm not mistaken, running a buffer of 256 samples at 96K would equal the same latency in ms as 128 samples at 48K, no? Also, has anyone confirmed whether the 002R can use a 64 sample buffer? If it can, then the latency at 48K would be in the same rough range as a "legacy" TDM (MixPlus) system.

Of course track count, plugin count, etc all get halved - based on available CPU power.
