Default Encoders: your opinion

Finally up and running with PT 11 HD/Win 7. Now I'm looking for a suitable Dolby encoder, and wondering if you would be so kind as to let me know what works for YOU. In particular, I've been looking at Minnetonka encoders: would you recommend the DTS encoder:
http://www.minnetonkaaudio.com/index...d=53&Itemid=88
or the Pro Logic encoder:
http://www.minnetonkaaudio.com/index...59fb7cb7r58337

Primary use would be to create surround tv audio/radio spots, then encode them before delivery.
Surround MIXING is great fun to me, but my experience with DELIVERY is somewhat lacking. thanks for your input!

DTS is not in anyway compilable with Dolby, DTS is for film and DVDs not for Broadcast

Last I looked Broadcasters wanted Surround deviled as ether desecrate 5.1 or Dolby E

Last I looked at software I preferred the Neyrick stuff http://www.neyrinck.com/

Did some digging around and found THIS:

What is the difference between Dolby Pro Logic II and Dolby Digital? Aren’t all Dolby products the same?
Dolby Digital is a lossy data compression method. It must be decoded back into “normal” PCM or Pulse Code Modulated audio on playback. Dolby Digital is used for DVD-Video, settop boxes, and DTV. It cannot be used without a Dolby Digital decoder. If it is not decoded, it will play the AC-3 data as unrecognizable “noise” which, if the playback gain is turned up, could blow your speakers or ears!

In comparison to Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II is a “matrix” encoder that uses only analog processes, like phase shift and filtering, to conceal the surround information within the stereo audio. Although not discrete like Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II-encoded audio can be played on any stereo system. If there is a Pro Logic II decoder, it will "unfold" the hidden surround out of the stereo signal and provide Dolby Surround.

So I got the Pro Logic II encoder.

Can one assume, Craig, that the irony is lost amongst Boredcasters?

So I got the Pro Logic II encoder.
AC3: mono up to 7.1
PL2: mono up to 5.0 digital only, 4.0 if passed through an analog stage (the separate surrounds get merged)
PL1: mono up to 4.0

Dolby E: is basically the AC3 and an LtRt in a container that can ber de-coded then recoded. a regular AC3 decoded and re-encoded sounds honorable

AKA, a noble effort.

And the sound your AVID HW makes when you launch PT is a dishonorable discharge.
