Default Directly to Avid

This is not to start another 'price' war thread. I just want to understand why my download of PT9 upgrade will cost twice the price? Last time I checked, there is no postal fees for the internet, and the exchange rate dictates that the price should be nowhere near the price that's being charged on the site here.....
Many people were upset about the regular upgrade price, but double is extreme. What is the justification?

Let's just close this
I saw the double price elsewhere. I will still purchase from Avid as I usually do

Twice the price compared to what?
My understanding is, that Crossgrade from LE is 249$ and from M-Powered 349$ which sounds very reasonable to me, given the boost in features you get.

Not sure whats going on but both the download and boxed versions of the PTLE>PT9 upgrade are 249.00 USD here in the USA.

I agree. Pro Tools 9 is a substantial improvement upon version 8. The $249 crossgrade price is a complete steal for LE users. For HD users, the crossgrade wasn't quite as earth shattering, but I like the ability to finally be able to transfer my sessions to a laptop with very little interruption to my editing workflow.

If that's really the case, why not order it at sweetwater.com? There you also have electronic delivery. 249$ it is.

i'm looking at the Japan website right now and its showing 25000 yen for the LE crossgrade. Which is about 300 USD, or around there.

Not bad, it's completely expected. I mean, come on. Walk up into an Ishibashi or Ikebe and check the prices on anything in the store, everything is more expensive here.

I just bought my PT 9 from US store anyway. Also, i order all my hardware from Sweetwater, and i haven't had any problems with the shipping to Japan.

I highly recommend Sweetwater for international shipments as I've had nothing but great experiences with them in the past.
