Can't connect to Mbox 2 with Pro Tools 7.4.2pr

Just did a new installation of Pro Tools LE 7.4.2pr after uninstalling (clean uninstall) previous versions.
When I try to open PT 7.4.2pr, it starts loading, then I get message: "Unable to locate Digidesign hardware. Make sure your hardware is connected and turned on.". Never get a chance to enter my authorization code.
In system preferences when I click on Digidesign MBox 2, I get the message :"Unable to connect to MBox 2". It also says: "firmware version<not available>".
Is there a separate driver I have to download for the MBox 2. I was under the impression that the download is a complete package and that nothing else is needed. Anybody else out there having the same problem and if you solved it, HOW?
Am running 10.5.3 on an iMac2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. 2 gigs ram.

I would check and make sure that nothing in your setup has changed since the previous version of Pro Tools was finding it...for example make sure that it's not being run through a USB hub, try another USB cable, make sure it's plugged into the left usb port on a MacbookPro or one of the rear USB ports on a Mac Pro. If that still doesn't bring up anything, test the Mbox on another machine if you can.
