Default -9129 error message

I am posting here in an attempt to help my father solve an issue with his MBox, he's at his wits end and I am trying to stop him from chucking all the fancy equipment he's bought out the window.

Since I am not the user, I may not know what exactly is going on but I am trying to involve my father in this so if there is missing information let me know so I can add it.

So he has the MBox and records the stuff on an external hard drive using firewire. He keps getting the -9129 error while attempting simple playback and like the error suggests he's played with the buffer size and CPU controls in Pro Tools but it has no effect. His laptop is an IBM ThinkPad Z60t.

He's got Pro Tools 6.7. From what I've gathered he's never had a problem with it until now. His laptop is new and I don't remember if he said that it worked before on this exact laptop. Will try to find out.

I used the SiSoftware Sandra as I saw recommended here somewhere to pull out the following information:

Any ideas what might be causing this and how he can fix it? I've tried looking around for some answers but I've not come up with anything (maybe because I don't know what I'm looking for ).
