Default PT 8 Waves 9 upgrade or Suicide?

So I get a 003 rack, and my old waves 5 is obsolete.
I call Waves and they say for $200 I can upgrade to Ver 7, which does NOT need a Ilok, which my previous Waves did. He also said my old computer G4 PT 6, Waves 5, I could still keep and use, and my new Ver 7 for my G5 PPC was mine to use as well.
So I buy Version 9, and was told I could be down graded to Ver 7 for my Mac PPC on PT 8, but now he, [a differeny guy] says I will need the old Ilok and it will cancel my old version of Waves authorization. Then after I have bought it, he says I should up grade to PT 10, and buy the way I will need a new computer because Waves 9 won't run on a Non Intel Mac. So I say WTF and find a intel mac, and go to pick up my $400 PT 10, Thats when the sales guy say's buy the way, this is not an actual install disc, just an authorization, AND I need a ILOK!
$400 and NO DISC ?? ANOTHER ILOK ??
I start with a $200 upgrade and suddenly I am at $2K for everything...
I am just going to stay with PT 8. Not sure what to do about Waves 9,
I could blow off the old G4 with Waves 5, but I don't like being lied to.
I guess the question I am getting to, yes slowly, will Waves Ver 7 work with PT 8 withOUT my old ilok?
Maybe I will just use the 003 on my G5 and no Waves, maybe something will turn up that is a better option.

I'm pretty confused by your post, but if you already had an Ilok from back in the day, you do not need to buy another one to use with your PT10 license.

And as for not having an install disc, most software these days is done by download, because by the time you get the disc home, it's already out of date.

Perhaps you could be more clear about what you actually have and what you're trying to do, and we can help you. And try to do that before you spend any more money.

i am running pro tools 8 with waves version 8 on an intel mac.

You should be able ot run that. You will need an ilok for the waves version 8 plugins.
