Default An interesting development...

The software being developed here http://www.fxteleport.com/ allows you to use a second (or third, etc.) computer connected via firewire or network cards to run extra plugins/synths. Apparently, you don't even need to have a monitor or keyboard/mouse to run the extra computers; it's all handled by the host system. It's like having a uad or powercore card.

That said, I think it's VST only.

thats hot. its better than uad-1 because its more powerful and more flexible. plus its for synths too, not just plugins. and a cheapie but pretty powerful computer can be bought on ebay for $300 which makes it cheaper too...

Hello. By the way guys, Steinberg has what they call System Link. One audio cable connects two computers. Check it out at their website. So far the only thing compatible is Cubase and Nuendo I believe. Kind of like ASIO in the beginning. If everybody jumps on board you could have this same functionality.

We recently tested this setupigi001 connected via lightpipe to a 2nd computer running Cubase with an event EZ8 ($150.00)

http://www.event1.com/Products/Digital/EZ8.html

We could almost run VST effects in an insert, the latency was so low. As we will use it only for delays and reverbs via aux sends/inputs it should work great. It was a little challenging to set up inside of Cubase, not being as straightforward an app as Protools. Otherwise, very smooth.

Its nothing that new. Ever since Cubase SX came out there was 'System link' where you could use a second computer for extra power.
