Default Control 24 completely dead - fuse blown?

Hi all,

I've been off work with the flu, and came back today to find that the Control 24 in one of our studios is completely dead. Apparently some students were working and all the power in the studio tripped out. When they flipped the fuse trip switch back on, everything powered back up except the Control 24.

The power tripping would certainly imply that a fuse in the Control 24 PSU has blown, but I can't see any user-accessible holders on the back of the unit (which is a MC124 according to the code on the back). Is this something I can tackle myself at all, or is it going to need to go in for a service?

Many thanks.

On our board it was a blown power unit - we had to pay for a repair, but Technical Earth in London were able to fix it in about 48 hours.

I believe it was between £250-£300 - but bear in mind that I delivered and collected the board myself. I imagine shipping would be very expensive.

Cheers!

That's a good price. Mine blew a few weeks ago and the quote from Digi Service Centre was £650 without carriage.

Digi verified this to be an accurate quote. We decided to bite the bullet and do the hardware exchange to a C|24.

If funds allow I would very much recommend this route. I loved my Control 24 but the new one is a different beast.

A Chapman - do you mind if i ask how much the C24 was with the hardware exchange for some reason I can't seem to find the price online.

The hardware exchange is around £3700 + vat.

That hardware exchange price is decent for the C|24. And it has an external PSU, so I imagine replacing that will be cheaper / less hassle than having to get the internal PSU fixed on a Control 24

our thought were that is was better to bite the bullet and get the new unit rather than throwing money at the old one, especially since it seems that the replacement PSU's are not guaranteed to be new units and are often refurbs. Plus they only have a 3 month warranty.

I'm sure we could have got a more cost effective repair by going to an independent repairer but we were already 2 weeks into a dead unit and the time/hassle was a factor (it's not straight forward getting these things moved around the country).

Upshot is, unexpected expense but a much much improved unit. I loved my Control 24 but the C|24 is a different beast.
