Default Re: Is the AVE really fixed in 12.7.1 HD?

Hi Subwoof,

Here, PTHDN 12.7.1 on a Mac Pro 5.1 with a decklink card is good with only this exact combination:

* AVE replaced with the AVE of 12.4
* BM driver: 10.4 (even the popular 10.4.3 didn't work)
* disable AVE + reboot osx + re-enable the video engine

cheers

Here PTHD 12.5.2 with the video engine of 12.4, it's a lot more stable compared to the video engine of 12.5.2.

Decklink driver 10.4.3, as everything later is causing a major drift.
(osx 10.10.5)

This bug is incredibly annoying and a real productivity killer.

Run Disk Cache in "NORMAL"
Do not set it to "X" amount of Gigs of Ram that you have.
Normal is the best way to run.
First try that. See how things go .

Odd I have the opposite experience. I get much better performance with the entire session cached into RAM.

Thanks for the tip. I was running at an explicitly set Disk Playback Cache Size value of 2 GB. Have switched to Normal and will observe.

Brandon,
You're on a PC, I'm on a Mac.
I have ZERO errors on 4 machines linked together for massive Films
and no problem in 3 months!
I got the tip from someone who knows. I take his advice.
He knows and I see the results.
YMMV, Mine is on Cruise Control !

I've given the Normal option a day or two to see whether it makes an improvement, but alas, no, the "Avid Video Engine was unable to stop" errors persist.

This bug is severely chapping my butt.
