Default G5 case mod - Hackintosh

Whoa just booted up my first couple of times with my hack and this thing is amazing with the SSD

I never noticed the SSD difference with the 3.1 Mac Pro that I was running

This gigabyte board and SATA 3 connection oh my God

3 Second grey Apple screen and then you're in the OS

I've been putting off updating to SSDs and just waiting for the prices to come down a bit plus I have a giant box of spinning disks sitting here. I'm beginning to feel a bit left out. My next build will probably have a SSD boot drive. Having said all that I'm surprised the Lion takes so long to boot compared to Win7. Win8 boots extremely fast. Having Win8 on a SSD must almost be like instant on.

Quick, tangential question: what does one do with all the guts from the G5? Is paper-weight or trash can the decision? I'm gearing up to do the same with one of my G5's, so all the stuff's comin' out. Nice lookin' work YYR123.

If they work, put them on ebay. They're probably not worth much since it's a g5.... But people will still pay for working mac parts like power supplies, motherboard, etc. so it's probably worth your while to list them.

Can't really see it but my SSD is up there on top

It started out as a cool project and I really liked it and I do like it but down towards the end I was just ready to get back to work not to mention the time that I spent on Hackintosh software install

Those standoff screws that hold the optical drive in place those things are going for 10 bucks for four of them on eBay
