Default Busses/Sends

Hi there. Sharon here. What's the difference between Busses and Sends. When do I use one or the other? Don't both route copies of the signal? Toodles:)

Default Re: Busses/Sends

A buss refers in the analog domain to a summing buss... basically a piece of wire (busbar) which runs the length of the console.. and each track can be summed into the buss by pressing a buss switch. A send is similar in that it's also a piece of wire that runs the length of the console.. but each track is summed into it via a "send" potentiometer.. which means you can vary the amount sent to the buss.

In Pro Tools.. you use a send fader assigned to a buss.. or you asign the outpt to the buss... here you have some flexibility as to how the same buss "wire" is used.
