Default 80 MB download for one crasher bugfix? LOL

Quote:
Fixed: Pro Tools quits unexpectedly when moving a plug-in window while closing it from a control surface (Item #99442)
- If a plug-in window was closed from a control surface while the plug-in window was being dragged across the screen, Pro Tools would quit unexpectedly.

The actual patching code required to fix this bug is probably on the order of 1 kilobyte.

So what I wonder is, do they only list as fixed bugs that have been made public somehow? Are these CS releases actually including tons of other fixes and changes that we don't know about?

Will we sleep easier not knowing how our sausage or DAW is made?

(Oh and btw, there's an easy enough way to tell if you're so inclined: just do a binary difference pre- and post-install, and see how much gets changed and where. Not sure what's the best tool to do that these days. And if you do it, report back! )

yeah that is funny. They have to give you the whole file because it has to be compiled. You cant just send out 1 bit of code things have to be compiled. But if you want to look just open up a terminal window and navigate to the protools folder. and do a

Ls -L smaller case ls -l that should give the info your looking for.

No i doubt they're sending out source or even object code. They are sending out binaries and they could easily have a patch that just applies the differences between two binaries. If they are compiling while the installer is running man that is fast compilation.
