Soundcard JIVE
Hi everybody !
I´m about to get a new soundcard and I just can´t believe all the jive I get to hear. This Forum is ofcourse pro Protools but I hope that people will help me out with honest responses. I´m looking at the MBOX and this is what I want to be able to do - . Have a bunch of soft synths/samplers running + 4-6 audiotracks playing. Can MBOX manage that without any noticable latency ? . Is it possible to to use the MBOX as a real time effect box ? I mean, if I plug my guitar into it and run it through a few effects, will I get a processed sound without any major latency from the MBOX ? I´m grateful for any honest responce. All the best Tobias

Re: Soundcard JIVE
Hi Tobias,
I think the mbox/ptle combo is very capable of handling that....its the latency i worry about. Because the mbox uses USB, there's a lot that need to be buffered. And that process takes time, and that will translate as latency. The Mbox does provide no-latency monitoring, but only with microphones and other audio-sources "small built in mixer for the outgoing signal and the 2 inputs). If you are looking for low latency (3~8 ms), then an amIII, 001, or 002 is something for you. Hope this helps
