ARE. Years of R&D ARE about... 3rd grade stuff. Did they fire all their copy editors?
Blame it on my Mom, she was a English major.
LOL ... I did notice something weird about that phrase... You're right. Hmm DID they fire their copy editors? Or did they just leave, like so many product managers who recently quit Digidesign inexplicably?

Great insight on "using up the old TDM chips."

I think this actually portends the end of TDM.

Amp sims are one of the only things where realtime DSP is a significant "plus" (and I use the scare quotes because it's an "amp" sim not an actual amplifier that one plays real guitar music through).

They probably don't want to sit and port all of Eleven to a new accelerated format unless they hafta (I think it was their last significant TDM development effort?), and so as to not waste that work they are wrapping up a teeny TDM system inside a floorboard to compete with the PODs of the world and give a face-saving sidegrade to those who bled $700 or whatever on the soon-discontinued TDM version. They might offer a steeper discount to crossgraders once TDM is taken behind the barn.

Don't worry. No one is actually going to "win" anything. Do you think they would ever give anything away for free? Even if it was 1 out of 10 million?

It's just a fictitious honeypot "contest".

I can see it now...

"Guitar Hero Studio"

Now you too can riff with Steely Dan in the comfort of your own home, AND share with your friends via our handy ProTools GH straight to mp3!

Oh cool, Digi are either going to start manufacturing plectrums or guitar strings!

I hope it's nice plectrums with a "digidesign" silkscreen print, I could use those with my Bass.

Avid brother, Avid.. haven't you been paying attention?

that allows you to do the beginner stuff you never wanted, using the gear you never had money to buy! Only from Digidesign"
