Default Avid, whats up with the DLOG files

I dont remember Avid tracking us before when on this site, but a month or so ago I noticed the DLOG files being put on our systems. Why? Or have they been there before and I just never noticed? Or is this a different kind of DLOG?

You can check your PC by going to Users>YOUR NAME and you should see a folder named AvidLogFiles

I always delete them when I find them.

It is suggested to wear a tin foil hat before handling DLOG files.

Exactly. If you delete them and have a problem, we won't have much to work with...

when were these introduced? And why are new log files made on PC's that dont have PT on them, but are used to access this site?

they are not put on computers by accessing this forum, only by installing pro tools. believe they were around before now (just called log files), just moved to a different spot on the system where they are more easily found.

They came in version 8.

As for the second question - as far as I know, only having Pro Tools installed should create dlog files.

In version 8 they were kept in the Pro Tools folder.

In version 9 they're kept 'per account' in the users Logs folder.

Trasher version 2.0 has a 'Open Log folder' function so you can either drag and drop .dlog files on request or clean out the folder. Which each time you launch and shut down Pro Tools, a new .dlog file is created.

Right... it keeps them juicy like a slow roasted turkey. Or even better, juicy like one of those deep fried turkeys that has been injected with Creole Spices.
Now that is moist!

I never leave home without my Tin Foil Hat. That is why I have never been bothered by the whole DLOG thing to began with.
It pays to plan Baby!
