Default pre-roll & delay comp

while punching in using pre-roll, i need to disable Delay compensation or the pre-roll is out of sync which can be very distracting to the person recording. But once it starts punching in, tracks that are dependent on the DC can be out of sync. Any work arounds?

Look for plugins that have lots of latency and make them inactive until all recording is done Several plugins I need to mix have 630-1800 samples of latency, so they stay inactive until mix time. I try to keep them all in the same insert slot, so they are in a row and I can use the modifier key to make the entire row active with a single command My tracking template has tons of plugins in place, but anything with over 10 samples is inactive at the start of a project.

BTW, don't neglect any plugins on your Master track as those are NOT compensated for

Thanks for the tip. Master is plugin free when recording. Delay Comp is a funny one, sometimes it's OK to live on, sometimes not!

For sure 2 things can really mess you up:
#1-not knowing(so I always select to see Delay Compensation in the MIX window)
#2-a send on any track that has no destination will cause a bunch of compensation that doesn't belong. Example; say you used a send to feeda guitar track to an AUX track with a delay plugin, then you change your mind and delete the AUX track. The send is now feeding nothing, but will confuse the delay comp feature to the tune of almost 2000 samples(pulled my hair out over this one)
