Default Markers to waste

Hi,

I have a problem never encountered before, and I was a happy PT7 user before upgrading to 8. I can't get playback from the point where I leave the cursor - only from where the markers are. I tried advice found around this forum which didn't work. like "Timeline Insertion follows playback ticked. (short cut n)

And Edit Isertion follows scrub shuttle.

Also check no pre or post roll on transport.

Lastly Dynamic transport off. under options."

What do I really need to do, as this totally sucks.

BTW, hot to delete markers once and for all?

Also, I deleted lots of files from a session I started to use as a template. Now PT wants to find these files every time I open the session. How to avoid this?

Thx,

Bob

If you have Dynamic Transport on, you should be able to place a "Play Start Marker" wherever you want in the timeline and playback should start from there. The only way I can seem to get playback to start from a marker is by clicking on it in the Memory Locations window..

You can delete markers by Option-clicking on them

You can save the session as a template from the file menu, too. thats new in 8

Would import of preferences from old version solve the problem?

Very, Very much doubt that!! Problems like these often get the advice to delete preferences, per the troubleshooting thread...

The one thing I didn't see that you'd tried was to make sure you have "link edit/timeline selection" enabled. The shortcut is shift+/ (forward slash).

Well, thats AWFUL news, as the new defaults make me waste the time. I appreciate some accuracy and speed of the PT8, but many new features seem to be inspired by Apple's Garage Band. Furthermore, as a classical guy, I can't begin a lot with new defaults

Get your template working, then the defaults will be what you want.. Does take a bit of fussing to get there though..

I'll probably have no choice. The only problem is that I already recorded some stuff in a few sessions that comes to mixing and mastering now (some done a few months ago in PT 7.3). You can imagine how irritating it is when you don't get the playback from where you want all of a sudden.

definitely not cool.. Were you able to delete all the markers? I was curious what would happen after you did that...
