Tech spec requirements question for upgrade to Pro Tools 10
Hi all, I am wanting to upgrade to Pro Tools 10 on Mac, and will be buying a Mac Book Pro. The specs are
- 2.5 Ghz dual core Intel Core i5 processor with 3MB L3 cache - 4 GB of 1600Mhz DDR3 inboard memory - 5 GB 5400 -rpm hard drive Will this suffice? I was told that a disc speed of 7200 rpm is needed for no latency issues? Thanks for the help G |

Re: Tech spec requirements question for upgrade to Pro Tools 10
If possible an upgrade to 8GB RAM would help a fair bit but 4GB is still fine. If further down the track you'd like to upgrade RAM, buy from someplace other than Apple - you'll save a lot of money.
You should be recording to a separate hard drive (not the one in your computer) that is preferably 7200rpm, so perhaps invest in a quality external hard drive. |

Yes, you should record your audio to an external drive and it should be at least 7200 RPM. Even though it has nothing to do with latency it still would be helpful to upgrade your internal system drive to a 7200 RPM drive as well. It will not help with latency but you will still get better system performance.
