So I just upgraded from 7.4 to 8 in my mixing room and while going through some of the features, I have found that the "Check for Updates" function does not work for me. I keep getting a message saying "Could not connect to digidesign.com, Check internet connection and try again." The trouble is that my connection is fine.

Can PT8 not check for updates through a wireless connection or is this just a bug. Anyone have any words of advice on this feature.

I just can say that i have the same problem :

The software updater utility never worked for me

The software update structure is in place, but we have not enabled the feature on the server end yet, as it had to go through some real-world testing first(or virtual real-world, as the case may be).

We'll enable the feature at the first opportunity once we feel the mechanisms are ready to roll.

i have the same problem except my macbook freezes for about 5 minutes before and after the software updater pops up

OK, do you guys just read the very last post before you post. It says here, very clearly, that the feature has not been enabled yet. If you don't take the time to read the whole thread then you are just gonna keep crashing.
