Default PT11HD import session data crash

It's really random whether import session data works for me.
Sometimes it crashes PT and I have to take 4-5 tracks at a time. Sometimes there is one track that can't import. Sometimes none.

Does it always work for you guys?

Boe

not on 11 yet but i have had some random weirdness with import session data in 10. the worst is when PT decides to import marker and tempo info despite those things being unchecked in the import dialog!

It's so random if this works or not. I use it all the time when mixing albums, but a lot of the times PT crashes. I then have to dig for what single track is causing the trouble. #notpro

Import session data all the time everyday and rarely have any issue, either on 10 or 11.

Hm - I'm not seeing that with either 10 or 11.

Every now and then when importing data from a .PTF file this will happen to me... I find that it is a Rouge Plugin....

Just want to add my voice to this thread, yes I'm seeing plenty of crashes, wait lets upgrade that to a *hit-load of crashes when importing session data. Have had better success importing 1 track at a time, but even that isn't guaranteed.

I was about to say that I thought it was purely to do with the Blue Cat Audio MB-7 hosting Slate VCC, but its happening on tracks without that plug-in too.

Another thing i'm seeing is that if I import to multiple tracks, sometime I get whopping feedback through multiple random tracks, which slowly subsides over about 5 seconds after the import (if it doesn't crash first). When this happens, something goes wacky with Delay Compensation and my mix won't play correctly at all. Need to quit and relaunch. Dare I point the finger at Slate VCC within MB-7 for this bug, but who knows. Unfortunately I don't have time to bug test and just persist as things are sounding good where they are and can't spend time re-inventing these mixes.

Glad to hear that I'm not the only one.

Tried to pin it down today...

To start off - YES I did delete all prefs and repair disk permissions.

1. Had a session that crashed when importing session data.
2. Imported on track that I had under suspicion. Containing UAD SSL-E + DUY Valve and and inactive Fabfilter gate.
3. Imported all data for that track. Crash.
4. Imported one thing at a time - starting with plugin assignment.
5. One thing at a time I imported all data - no crash. Hm.
6. So, all good - NO - the track didn't output anything.
7. Created new track and started to copy plugins over.. then the file. Crash.
8. Opened up the session again. Now - the original track did output again.

I see these kinds of symptoms a lot when importune session data.
It's usual that I import an aux track that will not receive anything. I then have to create a new track and make the same settings to that.

When it works - it's great. I just don't trust it.

Yes I'm seeing this one too. Its as though after an import a particular voice turns off. If I duplicate the non-playing track everything is fine, but just that particular imported track won't output audio. I vaguely remember that if I drag the track position, the non-playing track will change, which makes me think its a voice issue, but I'll need to try this again when it happens to confirm this behaviour.

Just had another crash this morning. 4 Stereo Auxes, importing from a previous mix which had exactly the same plug-ins on these Auxes. Plug-ins were Avid Trim, SoundToys Decapitator & Massey Tapehead, plus a hardware insert. Pretty simple really. All up to date. Prefs have been deleted multiple times over the last week.

Up till now I have been deselecting the Clips & Media in the import list and importing everything else. I might start to reduce what I'm importing to what is really necessary and see if that works.
