Question protools question emergency urgent help

when i press record on protools instead
of automatically recording, the red circle
blinks 4 times then starts recording. (pauses for 4 seconds before rec.)
this is extremely painful to record punch ins and
whatnot. i had to postpone the session tonight
because of this.

how do i undo this? please help i have
someone who came from far to record and
i can't figure it out. i use protools 7.0 windows xp.

i tried searching for this problem, but wasn't able to find an answer.

2 things to check out...do you have a 'countoff' enabled?? and how do you have your 'open ended record allocation' set in preferences?? both of these will affect the beginnin' to your actual record start. if 'open ended record allocation' is set to 'use all available space' then PTLE computes all available space on your system. set it to somethin' reasonable like 10-15mins (if you that works for your project(s))

There is a button on the transport bar that says "2 bars". See if it is "on". On means "count off enabled".

Probably not

Try to go into View -> Transport -> MIDI controls

It's toggled by hitting 8 on the numeric keyboard.
