Default NuBus Disk IO anomaly

Steve,
I have a Seagate 32550N (2G) and a Seagate 34573N (4G) on my NuBus PT3 TDM rig. With the 2G only all's well. With the 4G only the drive is not 'valid'. With the 4G first then the 2G, no drive is 'valid. HOWEVER, with the 2G first then the 4G, both drives mount. I'd like to retire the 2G but I can't due to this problem. Any ideas? Do I need to set the 'Motor Start Enable' or Delay Motor Start' jumpers on the 4G?

Also should I set 'termination power' jumper 'to bus', 'from bus', or 'from drive'?

Thanks,
ripple FX

Steve, you ARE da man! I owe you a cold beer.

My IDs were 0 and 1. I switched them to 4 and 5 (ya gotta love Glyph hot swap racks!) and life is good.

I've frozen my NuBus rig at PT 4.1.1 and OS 7.6.1 and have the 4G drives in 2-2G partitions.

The drives spin up upon power up.

A Daw-Mac contributor suggested term power be set 'from bus' so I'm still confused about that. I'm using external passive terminators.

Thanks for your time.

Great news! I'm glad it was a simple fix.

As far as the term power goes: If the drives are spinning up at power-on, you can leave them as is.

Best,
