Default greyed audio files in the audio import window

I updated my system to OSX Sierra (from Mavericks). Now PT12.5 shows many greyed audio files in the Import Audio dialog. They are wave files and AIFF.

It's the same way to reproduce: opening Import Audio, typing in a keyword to search (e.g. pedestrian), result are all my foley archive sounds with many active ones but a lot of inactive ones. Now, if I search one deactive file with Finder and point PT directly to that folder: it's black, active, i can import it.

my foley archive is on an external hard drive.

Weird disk access problems can usually be fixed by trashing Workspace files:

But I'm not 100% sure that will fix it. Curious why you aren't using SoundMiner for this task?

Thanks for that, I'll try.

Well, I guess it's the price. I am not a big production house, more an multi-purpose artist. I set my horse on Soundly as they will expand their features very fast.

At all, I try to keep it simply, using the in-build stuff of PT. I hate wasting my time with upgrade/update/OSX software or technical problems. Also I might change to Nuendo in the future which has in general nice features for sound libraries.

Permissions? Get info on your online audio drives, make sure "Ignore ownership..." is unchecked, and that every user and group have read & write access.

I did so, it does not help. Examples I checked for permissions are all same as the others.

This is odd too, maybe in here's the solution in the Import Audio dialog:
- only when I use the search field in the right upper corner, objects appears greyed out!
- manually jump into the folder I can import it
-> sth wrong with the search function?

- it goes further: greyed out objects display this information:
"Digiffects - Honda CRV 2.0 03 automatic - suv - Window - electric - 6 versions (74).wav must be converted to be used because it is not BWAVE/AES31 compatible and current application preferences require that it be."
- unchecking the box "Convert Imported *.wav Files to AES31/Broadcast Wave" in the preferences does not change the greyed-out behavior, just the dialog changes

- importing AIFF works, but all AIFF-C-Audio are greyed out. If I jump into that folder - it is possible too

first image: searching for that file = greyed out. 2nd: going into folder = file available
