Turns out the issue is not having a Metal compatible video card - this according to Waves support. Stock 2012's don't have one. Apparently those who have switched their video cards so they can run Mojave and above aren't having problems. Waves should have been more transparent about what exactly IS the problem/requirements.

Speaking of transparency Waves only mentions cheesegraters - what about Mac Mini's or iMacs of a certain model?

Not completely correct. I'm having problems with the Waves Tune plugin (phasing, double sound, ...) which started after upgrading to V12. So, be careful.

Here's the specs.

Boot ROM Version: 233.0.0.0.0
SMC Version (system): 2.2f38

Intel HD Graphics 4000:

Chipset Model: Intel HD Graphics 4000
Type: GPU
Bus: Built-In
VRAM (Dynamic, Max): 1536 MB
Vendor: Intel
Device ID: 0x0166
Revision ID: 0x0009
Metal: Supported, feature set macOS GPUFamily1 v4
Displays:
Colour LCD:
Display Type: LCD

Certainly a good upgrade to have. There's some plugins I can see on my small screen I couldn't see all of before. Not sure about the upscale graphics resolution as other have noted!

The preset browser is great. Going to be using that for sure!

I'm a bit confused on this. Do you have to WUP BEFORE updating to V12? That seems to be the case.

You only need to WUP if your products are out of Update Plan.

Just go to My Products in your account to see.

You can Get Latest Version for your products that are in the plan.
