Default low disk space xp

I seem to have a glitch. When I record I get a measage from my system tray indicating that i have low disk space. It happens within 30 seconds of recording and sometime it gets stuck in record mode. After getting out of pro tools I went into my drive to check my properties,I was baffled to find that my audio files were huge!!!I used 6 gigs of space.I only recorded 10 tracks for 30 seconds or so.(note I was lucky sometimes that this did not occure every time but it is occuring evertime now). Not knowing what may be the problem I feel it is important to list my input section.I used my optical inputs via presonus digi max and 001 front end mic pres.I'm using a supermicro PIIIdm3 mother board,PIII 667 processor,256ram,ide for OS,ide for storage,18gig and 10gig scsi, for audio.Any input or solutions would be very much appreciated.Thank you....

Ah, I see you caught your typo!

Sorry, I'm not being very helpful.

When did these large files appear? On this project only?
