Default M-Audio users?

Anyone out there use M-Audio Preamps?
There's an 8 channel preamp on the market called the Octane which I'm interested in. It has an ADAT out which would allow me to expand the recording capabilites of my 002RACK. It's retailing at 499 sterling which seems to me a pretty sweet price. Since I haven't come across any reviews for it yet, I was hoping that M-Audio users could share their opinions with me - are the preamps clean? Warm? Harsh?! Has anyone had problems integrating M-Audio equipment into their ProTools system?

Any opinions would be a great help, ideally I'd buy the Focusrite Octopre, but it's twice the price and I aint got that sorta dough!

Thanks,
Steve

I had a TAMPA 2 channel preamp. I ended up returning it and getting an ART dmpa. in my opinion any m-audio preamps arnt worth what you pay for them.

One thing to remember about the Octopre is that's comes without the optional A/D card which is another $200. I presonally have not used the M-audio pre you mention. There must be a shop in Dublin, where you can do a little comparsion yourself, no? Or just wait, there's bound to be a product review coming out soon. IMHO low end preamps all sound the same, you'll need spend some serious cash to see a big improvement in your signal chain. That's just me.

Like ISAfocusrite range, Avalon, etc.
